European Heritage Days – In-depth tour of the Queen’s Convent (including the chapel)
To mark European Heritage Days, come and enjoy an in-depth tour of the Queen’s Convent, including the chapel.
Come and (re)discover these iconic places steeped in history.
Following the death of her father, Queen Marie Leszczynska ordered the construction of a convent in Versailles. She commissioned the Lorraine architect Richard Mique, who submitted three distinct designs for the building. It was the third design, chosen by Madame Adélaïde, that was ultimately realised. This building is a testament to remarkable architectural audacity, underpinned by a profound philosophical reflection on the themes of religion and education. The chapel, a true masterpiece of the late 18th century, is its most prestigious feature.
