European Heritage Days – Guided tour of the chapel and convent at Lycée Hoche

To mark European Heritage Days, come and visit the chapel and convent at the Lycée Hoche in Versailles

Come and (re)discover this iconic site steeped in history.

Following the death of her father, Queen Marie Leszczynska ordered the construction of a convent in Versailles. She commissioned the Lorraine architect Richard Mique, who submitted three distinct designs for the building. It was the third design, chosen by Madame Adélaïde, that was ultimately realised. This building is a testament to remarkable architectural audacity, underpinned by a profound philosophical reflection on the themes of religion and education. The chapel, a true masterpiece of the late 18th century, is its most prestigious feature.
