Château de Vauboyen
Located in the Bièvre Valley, the Château de Vauboyen is a rare example of a First Empire “folie” in France. The building was listed as a Historic Monument in 1979, along with its interior decorations, entrance gate and outbuildings.
Built in the early 19th century within a large landscaped park, the château features architecture inspired by Palladian villas of the Italian Renaissance, while its interiors reflect the purest Empire style. It was commissioned for Madame Joséphine Laure de la Celle de Chateaubourg.
The architect was Claude Louis Bernier, inspector of the Louvre’s buildings and a close collaborator of the renowned architects Percier and Fontaine.
The Château de Vauboyen is a private property.
